Walmart’s grocery delivery service is going driverless: On Monday, the retail giant announced that two autonomous trucks are now transporting customer orders from warehouses to retail stores in Arkansas, without the help of a safety driver, whose role is to oversee an autonomous truck’s operation during its testing phase, reports CNBC. The development is part of a growing trend among supermarket chains to scale up delivery, without the need for drivers. Other stores like Kroger and Albertsons have also piloted autonomous delivery as part of their supply chains, and Walmart said that it will soon begin experimenting with the technology in Louisiana.
